Beer Economics 4 - Pacific Pilsner

Pacific Pilsner is a beer for the great depression, it is cheap in every way. Their slogan is "Brewed with Natural Pure Spring Water" but it maybe if it was brewed with sea water it would taste better.

Company: Pacific Western Brewing Company

Quality: Very light and watered down. It has a really metallic After taste, maybe there is problem with the cans but without the aftertaste it is a very light tasting beer; it needs to be cold to get the best taste.

Why buy this?: No idea, it is favored among older gentlemen probably because of its price (about $1.20 a can). I haven't seen this in bottles but I would probably buy again just to try it to see if the weird aftertaste goes away. But overall I don't think hipsters touch this stuff.

Overall: I would avoid this if possible, there are other higher quality Economic beer to try than this. Unless you prefer your beer with ships!

Drunkenness: 6/10 - I shotgunned two of these so it kicked in fast
Enjoyment: 4/10 - Didn't like, won't buy again.

Beer Economics 2 - Molson Pilsner

Molson Pilsner = Canadian Flavored water.

Pairs nicely with greasy saucy foods and doesn't have much of a aftertaste.

I have become a bit of a snob with beer, but Pilsner used to be one of my favorites economic beers. Like Old Milwaukee it has a really pronounced carbonation bite with a strong hoppyness. It doesn't have much to smell but what it lacks in quality it makes up in price! In BC you can snag a 15 pack for $20 bucks and on a good day a 12 pack for $17 bucks!

It is a good cheap beer to pad a cooler with at a party and some have been known to be a huge fan of the 'Pilly' but if you want my opinion, if you have money avoid the white rabbit, and fork over another $5-$7 for some better quality domestic beer.

I'm not sure if all pre-1950's beer tasted like this but I think they need to change their slogan to 


"America's Most Average Tasting Beer"


But if your strapped for cash and require a buzz after a long day at work, this beer will get you there without removing your stomach lining! The overall quality of Old Milwaukee is average to say the most, the flavor is nothing to brag about but it a nice flavorful light beer that somehow makes chicken fingers taste AMAZING!


I bought a 15 pack of OM for a party for 19 bucks here in Canada, and when I rolled up with with the red box with the pretty lady on it. It was greeted with half praise and a little bit of skepticism, of course the skeptics thought Stella-Artois was the best beer in the world... I don't hate this beer but I also don't prefer it, it has a "over-carbonated" feeling to it and is not good for chugging out of the can.


Overall: I poured it out into a wide mouth glass and sipped while eating my chicken tenders and actually enjoyed it. It wasn't too strong to over power the succulent chicken flavor and the wide mouth glass smoothed out the carbonation so I didn't feel gassy
